in what ways is searching the words of the prophets diligently different from only reading the words of the prophets? why do you think it is important to search the words of isaiah and the other prophets diligently?
--> when i was a teenager, bishop williams related the study of the scriptures to water sports. he said you can water ski, just skimming over the surface. or you can snorkel, digging a little deep but not seeing too much, or scuba dive, where you prepare and have the right gear ready, and dive deep, deep, deep and explore. i've always loved that analogy. i think the times i've actually scuba dived in the scriptures is less than i would like to admit... but those times have been way more meaningful than the times i have not. searching diligently also brings to mind a sense of consistency.
