jacob 1: 1 - 19

just as jacob is called to teach his people, why is it a blessing to have parents and church leaders who warn us of sinful attitudes and behaviors?

--> i haven't always appreciated my parents' advice, but now that i'm getting "older" (and hopefully a mite wiser), i can see just how wise their advice and corrections were.  turns out, they totally have an understanding of the gospel that far outweighs mine, and they totally knew what they were talking about all along.  the funny thing about life is that we have to do a lot of discovery on our own.  but i am grateful for righteous parents that are willing to work with me and help me to become better.  they aren't perfect, but they are trying, and doing a mighty good job.  i've always loved being an ence.  it's a pretty good life around here.  and the reason is, they have founded everything they do on the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ and based their parenting styles on the way that the Savior would parent if He were here.  i hope to pattern that same style when i have a family of my own one day!
