jarom 1: 1 - 15

how has the Lord blessed or prospered you for keeping His commandments?  from your experience, what testimony can you share about the Lord and His promises?

--> one promise the Lord has given me through my patriarchal blessing is that if i continue to keep my journal faithfully, it will be a benefit to me in the future.  i always thought that benefit would come when i am old and gray, perhaps with alzheimers, when my children would come and read to me stories of my own life (notebook style!) or some future day when my great grandchildren are picking ancestors to study about.

i have seen my journal influence my life in more ways than i can express. it is a place of outlet for me, a place to record my most sacred thoughts, my silliest thoughts, my most embarrassing thoughts, and a record of the life i am trying to build.  in my blessing it gives me 3 very specific things to record 1. things i want to pass onto my own children 2. things that build and reinforce my testimony 3. the names of people that make a significant difference in my life.

i've found so much peace and direction through expressing myself through words, on paper, and also as i have gone back through and read my journals from time to time.  there is much strength to be gained from previous experiences we go through, and i am grateful for the counsel and promises that come with writing in my journal.

here's some cool quotes from past prophets about the benefits and importance of keeping a journal!
