how would teachers of the gospel be affected if their success were based on their popularity? how could this affect their teaching?
--> one of my favorite things about the restored church of Jesus Christ is the opportunity we all have to serve in different callings throughout our lives. none of us are seen as superior to another, we all serve in different capacities at different times in our lives. i appreciate this for many reasons, one of which being that we don't have to worry about popularity contests. there are good people in every congregation. there are good people teaching the gospel everywhere. there is a set curriculum and set doctrine that is taught worldwide across the board. on any given week, you can be assured that no matter where you are in the world, people are learning the exact same thing as you, give or take a week or 2. i LOVE that about the organization of the church! in other churches, we see the effect of popularity contests on attendance at church... i'm glad that we don't have to worry about that.
