why do you think it is important to receive strength from God to stand against wickedness rather than having wicked influences removed completely from our lives?
--> referring back to my earlier post about the wars we are waging today... i learn a lot from reading about the way that the people in the book of alma fortified and prepared for wars. they spent so much time building up their cities and making preparations to go to war. they knew that the time would come that they would have to go to battle, that their safety would be threatened. so they started way in advance making preparations so that when they time came, they would be ready. "when ye are prepared, ye shall not fear"... right?
we have been warned of impending danger and temptation in the world today. the world is getting more and more wicked as they days go on, and the need to find strength and fortification in righteousness is important now more than ever. if God took away the wickedness and temptations, we would never learn anything. we are on earth to learn and grow, to gain a body and have a physical experience where we learn to control the physical temptations and influences that we are subject to.
