3 nephi 9: 1 - 22
what do you think it means to offer a sacrifice of a "broken heart and a contrite spirit"? what blessings does the Savior promise those who come unto Him with a broken heart and contrite spirit?
--> when i think about a broken heart, i think about a heart that has been through a lot. i think about a heart that is open, humble, teachable, meek. a heart and soul that is ready to hear the word of the Lord and follow it. the word "contrite" means to show repentance and sorrow for wrongdoing (per say). if we have a contrite spirit and a broken heart, we are looking for ways to change and accepting the direction of the Lord, even when it is hard to hear, or hard to implement. Christ promises that He will bless all those that come unto Him. he also says more specifically that those who come unto Him with a broken heart and contrite spirit will be baptized by the spirit and water: two of the greatest blessings we can receive on this earth!
